Definition:
  • Provides scheduled and unscheduled medical transportation services and delivers the passenger to the appropriate location.
  • Responds to hospitals, nursing homes and other locations to provide medical transportation services.
  • Provides safe medical team and/or passenger movement from/to wheelchair/stretcher at home, hospitals, nursing      homes and other facilities.
  • Provides passenger safety monitoring , enroute to destination and during transportation to, from and/or between facilities.
  • Provides passenger monitoring per state law, adhering to company, local, regional, and state guidelines.
  • Performs other duties as directed.
 
Minimum Requirements:
  • Must possess a high degree of personal integrity and responsibility.
  • Currently licensed, certified or registered by the appropriate state agencies.
  • Currently certified in CPR by the AHA or other appropriate organization.
  • Currently certified in First Aid by the ARC or other appropriate organization.
  • Must become certified as an Emergency Medical Technician within one year of hire.
  • Currently licensed with the appropriate level of state motor vehicle operator’s license.
  • Currently has a clean driving record as approved by company vehicle liability insurer.
  • Most successfully complete a CEVO ambulance driver safety classroom and practical course.
  • Must have the ability to work effectively with minimal supervision, using good judgment.
  • Must have the ability to work efficiently and interact in a constructive and professional manner       with other employees, public safety personnel and medical staff.
  • Must have the ability to interact effectively and professionally with passengers, customers, clients, family members, bystanders, and the general public in such a manner as to reflect positively on the company.
  • Must demonstrate a level of skill and ability consistent with the provision of high quality passenger care.
 
Physical Requirements:                      
  • The ability to pass a DOT physical.
  • The ability to reach, push and pull.

This position will be asked to: Answer the phones in the dispatch center using appropriate communication skills. Using pre-established criteria to determine the best way to provide service to the customer. Assign runs to appropriate crews in a timely basis. Follow up with crews so that company goals, in regards to response times, are maintained. Maintain appropriate record keeping in the dispatch program and other documents that are required Maintain an open line of communication between you and your supervisor. Successfully complete and maintain the Emergency Medical Dispatch certification Complete administrative tasks as assigned. Participate in periodic and annual skill evaluations. Performs any other related duties as assigned. Be able to analyze problems and develop practical solutions. Be able to manage time in a multi-tasking environment. Be able to prioritize based on changing need. Requirements for the position include: Attention to detail, Ability to effectively communicate with others (written and verbal), Ability to use a personal computer and Microsoft Office based products, Effective problem solving techniques and the ability to handle a fluid work environment.  Possesses leadership abilities and sound judgment, works well under pressure and able to use discretion when needed. Previous experience in the EMS field with a current certification as a Paramedic or EMT and/or scheduling background is preferred.  Once obtained, a dispatcher must keep the Emergency Medical Dispatch certification active and current.  Previous experience in a call taking center / environment is preferred. Strong customer service skills with a focus on communication, determination and organization. Simple reading, complex writing, basic math skills, judgment/decision making, and analysis/comprehension skills. Current or previous experience as an EMT or Paramedic is a plus.
