Position: Paramedic Field Supervisor

Definition:
Under the direction of the Operations Manager, the Field Supervisor will oversee all daily/shift operations and
personnel. The capacity of this position may include but may not be limited to any of the following, varied professional, administrative tasks.
 
Minimum Requirements:
• All Paramedic requirements and licensure required
• Critical Care or Ventilator Certification
• Must have the ability to function as a leader evaluating, coaching, training and directing field staff.
 
Physical Requirements:
• The ability to reach, push and pull.
• The ability to sit or stand for long periods of time.
• The ability to bend, stoop, squat and kneel for long periods of time.
• The ability to walk up and down stairs without difficulty.
• The ability to lift and maneuver 150 pounds without difficulty.

• The ability to walk a distance of one quarter of a mile without difficulty.
• The ability to be insured and to operate a company vehicle under the guidelines set forth by the

Reports To:
• Operations Manager for all operational activities.
• Medical Director – Medical Control on all patient care, protocol and clinical quality activities.
 
Specific Duties:
• Demonstrates complete knowledge, understanding and compliance of company policies and
procedures.
• Ensures that ambulances and all equipment are ready for use at the beginning of each shift and after
every call. This includes: appropriate cleaning and disinfecting of the interior and exterior of the
vehicle; appropriate cleaning and disinfecting of equipment; inspecting; restocking, and completing
daily checklists of the vehicle and equipment; and performing some routine maintenance.
• Ensures security of buildings, vehicles, equipment, medications and all other company property.
• Performs daily inspections of their responsible area for cleanliness. Then performs the appropriate
housekeeping duties to ensure their living quarters are clean, free from clutter and sanitary at all times.
• Maintains appropriate communications with company dispatch, medical control and other agencies
• Be knowledgeable as to local geography to include location of hospitals, public venues as well as local
streets and highway systems.
• Responds to emergencies and non-emergencies using appropriate care and caution in accordance with
state law, EMS regulations, company policy, and the principles of safe emergency vehicle operation.
• Provides stand by emergency medical care and transportation at special event venues.
• Responds to emergency medical care and transportation at special event venues.
• Responds to hospitals, nursing homes and other locations to provide nonemergency medical care and
transportation.
• Provides medical care and monitoring at the scene, en route to the hospital and during transport to,
from and/or between facilities.
• Provides appropriate medical care and monitoring per local medical protocol and state law, adhering to
company, local, regional and state guidelines regarding patient care.
• Assists Operations Manager in ensuring that all operations are in full compliance with all local state
and federal regulations regarding the ordering, storage and use and record keeping of controlled
substances.
• Renders emergency and non-emergency medical care and transportation in accordance with local
medical protocol and state law, adhering to company, local, regional, and state guidelines regarding
patient care consistent with good judgment and the provision of high quality medical care.
• Appropriately and safely delivers the patient to the appropriate medical facility.
• Acts at all times in the best interests of high quality patient care, in the best interest of the patient,
and in such a manner to reflect credibly on the company and the professional reputation of the EMT.
• Acts at all times with his/her personal safety in mind, as well as the safety of his/her partner, the
patient, other EMS personnel, bystanders, and any other public safety personnel present.
• Accompanies patients to their destination, continuing to provide appropriate care and patient advocacy
until the responsibility for the patient has been transferred to an appropriate medical professional and a
report has been given.
• Completes and signs all appropriate documentation for every response and transport..
• Obtains complete medical histories and billing information for all patients treated and/or transported.
• Maintains security and privacy of all company and patient information at all times in accordance
HIPAA and all other local, state and federal regulations.
• Adheres to Universal Precautions/Body Substance Isolation when dealing with patient contacts. Is
familiar with and practices the Infection Control policies and procedures of company.
• When necessary and appropriate, acts as a team leader in dealing with emergency and non-emergency
situations, directing and supervising other members of the emergency medical care team.
• Performs duties related to public relations and community education programs sponsored by company.
• Accepts responsibility for recertification as an EMT-P and for other required license’s and
certifications as required by company, local, regional, and state policies, regulations or laws.
• Reports to assigned shifts on time, properly groomed in uniform unless the proper notification has been
made. Remains on-duty and in proper uniform until properly relieved.
• At all times sets an example of professionalism and leadership for others to follow. Places patient care
excellence and safety above all else.
• Acts as a Field Training Officer assisting in the evaluation, orientation and training of new field staff.
• Directs and leads field crews in dealing with emergency and non-emergency situations, directing and
supervising other members of the emergency medical care team.
• Directs and leads field crews in performing administrative tasks such as dealing with vehicle
breakdowns, vehicle accidents, employee injuries, patient injuries, supply requests, general

• Assists Quality Improvement and Billing support staff in evaluation, training and follow up with field
crews in protocol compliance and field documentation.

Vehicle Supply Technician
 
Definition:
 
Vehicle Supply Technician is responsible for fueling, cleaning and stocking ambulances as directed.
 
Vehicle Supply Technician is responsible receiving medical, cleaning and shop supplies as directed.
 
Vehicle Supply Technician is responsible for inventorying and stocking medical supply closets at AOC, ambulance stations and ambulance sub stations.
 
 
Minimum Requirements:
Must possess a high degree of personal integrity and responsibility.
Must possess a High School Diploma or GED Certification.
Must be currently licensed with state motor vehicle operator’s license.
Must have a clean driving record as approved by company vehicle liability insurer.

Communications Supervisor  QA/QI
 
Definition:
Under the supervision of the Communications Manager, the Communications Supervisor will focus on the quality assurance, quality improvement and training functions within the Communications Center along as well assisting with the oversight of all dispatching personnel within the Communications Center, including other Supervisors within the Communications Center.  
 
The capacity of this position may include, but not limited to identifying areas of improvement and aid in the development and implementation of those areas within the communications center.
 
Additionally, the Communications Supervisor may also receive calls for transport to and from facilities or directing calls to appropriate management personnel who are best suited to handle the caller’s issue, or any of the following, varied professional, administrative task. 
 
The Communications Supervisor may broadcast assignments to transport crews, operate radio, telephone, or computer equipment to send and receive communications to crews and relay information or orders to members of management.  
 
The Communications Supervisor may be called upon to function in the capacity of an EMT as set forth by company policies and protocols. It is possible that they may also be called upon to function in the capacity of Communications Manager, Dispatcher or Dispatch Call Taker to assure all company tasks are maintained and completed.

Performs daily inspections of their work area and of the Dispatch Center for cleanliness. Then performs the appropriate housekeeping duties to ensure their work area is clean, free from clutter and sanitary at all times.
Maintains appropriate communications with company units, managers, support staff, receiving healthcare facilities and other agencies via radio, data link, pager or cell phone as required.
Is knowledgeable as to local geography to include location of hospitals, public venues as well as local streets and highway systems.
Deploys, tracks and moves units on an ongoing basis throughout the day per local System Status Posting Plan.
Responds to all calls for service promptly and accurately answering incoming phone calls for service per Emergency Medical Dispatch and company procedure as required.
Utilizes appropriate Emergency Medical Dispatch and company procedure to accurately determine the exact nature of each call giving pre arrival instructions to callers per appropriate emergency medical dispatch and company procedure.
Dispatches by radio, pager or mobile data terminal the most appropriate unit for each request for service.
Obtains complete intake information from all callers and inputs all required call data information received correctly into Computer Aided Dispatch system the course of the call.
Communicates and coordinates with Field Supervisors, Operations Managers and other management and support staff to ensure the proper number of fully equipped and staffed vehicles are available to fulfill local System Status Plan on a daily basis.
Acts at all times in the best interests of high quality patient care, in the best interest of the patient,     and in such a manner to reflect credibly on the company and the professional reputation of the Dispatcher.

Definition:
 
Under the supervision of the Director of Operations, the Communications Manager will oversee all daily operations and personnel within the communications center.  
 
The Communications Manager will work closely with the Director of Operations to formulate efficient deployment strategies, ensure that contractual obligations are being met within the appropriate compliance standards and present detailed reports to leadership teams of all contracted facilities.
 
The Communications Manager may be called upon to function in the capacity of Dispatcher, Dispatch Call Taker, and/or EMT as set forth by company policies and protocols to assure all company tasks are maintained and completed.

All Dispatch Call Taker and Dispatcher requirements.

Reports To:
Director of Operations as appropriate for all operational activities.
 
Specific Duties:
Demonstrates complete knowledge, understanding and compliance of company policies and procedures.
Ensures that Computer Aided Dispatch computer console, phone system, radio system and all equipment is ready for use at the beginning of each shift.
Ensures security of buildings, Dispatch Center and all other company property.
Performs daily inspections of their work area and of the Dispatch Center for cleanliness. Then performs the appropriate housekeeping duties to ensure their work area is clean, free from clutter and sanitary at all times.
Maintains appropriate communications with company units, managers, support staff, receiving healthcare facilities and other agencies via radio, data link, pager or cell phone as required.
Is knowledgeable as to local geography to include location of hospitals, public venues as well as local streets and highway systems.
Communicates and coordinates with Field Supervisors, Operations Managers and other management and support staff to ensure the proper number of fully equipped and staffed vehicles are available to fulfill local System Status Plan on a daily basis.
Maintains security and privacy of all company and patient information at all times in accordance HIPPA and all other local, state and federal regulations.
Accepts responsibility for recertification as an EMD and for other required license’s and certifications as required by company, local, regional, and state policies, regulations or laws.
Reports to assigned shifts on time, properly groomed in uniform and on time unless the proper notification has been made. Remains on-duty and in proper uniform until properly relieved.
At all times sets an example of professionalism and leadership for others to follow. Places patient care excellence and safety above all else.
Determine response requirements and relative priorities of situations, and dispatch units in accordance with established procedures.
Maintain files of information relating to emergency calls such as personnel rosters, and emergency call-out and pager files.
Follow up with crews so that company goals in regards to response times are maintained.
Ensures all personnel that are assigned to shift report on time, and are in proper attire for the shift.
Record details of calls, dispatches, and messages.
Maintain access to, and security of, highly sensitive materials.
Scan status charts and computer screens, and contact emergency response field units to determine emergency units available for dispatch.
Maintain appropriate record keeping in regards to the dispatch program and other documents that are required 
Maintain an open line of communication between you and your supervisor.
Provide employees with guidance in handling difficult or complex problems and in resolving escalated complaints or disputes.
Participate in recruiting, interviewing, and the selection employees.
Documentation of all incidents, attendance issue, disciplinary actions and any other occurrences that may need to be addressed as a result of work performance. This is to be completed by the end of the shift.
Will assume or delegate the responsibility of scheduling personnel
Complete administrative tasks as assigned 
Relay information and messages to and from emergency sites, to law enforcement agencies, and to all other individuals or groups requiring notification.
Implement corporate and departmental policies, procedures, and service standards in conjunction with management.
Discuss job performance problems with employees to identify causes and issues and to work on resolving problems.
Oversees all duties as assigned by the Operations Manager.
Analyze statistical data to develop recommendations for planning.
Clearly express him/herself verbally and in writing
Question callers to determine their locations, and the nature of their problems to determine type of response needed.
Answer the phones at the dispatch center using appropriate communication skills.
Using pre-established criteria, determine the best way to provide service to the customer.
Assign runs to appropriate crews in a timely basis.
Assures all company goals, objectives and procedures are followed on a daily basis.
Keep your work area clean
Resolve customer complaints and answer customers' questions regarding policies and procedures.
Supervise the work of office, administrative, or customer service employees to ensure adherence to quality standards, deadlines, and proper procedures, correcting errors or problems.
Train and instruct employees in job duties and company policies or arrange for training to be provided.
Evaluate employees' job performance and conformance to regulations and recommend appropriate personnel action.
Review records and reports pertaining to assigned runs and evaluate performance.
Be able to perform all job capacities per the dispatcher job description
Participate in all disciplinary concerns regarding personnel in the dispatch center
Attend all management meetings per the direction of the Director of Operations
Displays a positive mental attitude toward the position held, Seals Ambulance Service Inc. and it’s employees, clients, partners or affiliates.
Performs any other related duties as assigned.
Receive incoming telephone calls regarding emergency and non-emergency ambulance service information.
Interpret and communicate work procedures and company policies to staff.
Plans, assigns, direct and evaluate all dispatch personnel to assure all requests for service are complied with according to company policies and goals.

Position:
Documentation Quality Assurance (DQA) Specialist
 
Definition:
DQA Representative is responsible for ensuring that information and documentation required for proper billing of claims is obtained from field staff for all billable events for an assigned area, is promptly submitted and is properly completed.
 
DQA Representative is responsible for working with Call Takers, Dispatchers, Dispatch Shift Supervisors, Drivers, EMT’s, Field Supervisors, Director of Operations and other management and support staff to obtain and/or complete any documentation required that is incomplete or has not been submitted.
 
 
Minimum Requirements:
  • Must Possess High School Diploma or GED
  • Must possess knowledge of medical documentation.
  • Must possess knowledge of medical terminology.
  • Must possess a high degree of personal integrity and responsibility.
  • Must have the ability to simultaneously manage multiple activities without error.
  • Must have the ability to work effectively with minimal supervision, using good judgment.
  • Must have good computer skills and be able to type at least 30 words per minute.
  • EMT Certification Preferred
  • Certified Ambulance Coder Preferred
  • Experience as EMT, Hospital Coordinator, Dispatcher or Biller is desirable.
 
Physical Requirement:
  • The ability to sit or stand for long periods of time.
  • The ability to use a computer keyboard and write for extended periods of time.
  • The ability to reach, push and pull.
  • The ability to lift and maneuver 35 pounds without difficulty.

Specific Duties:
  • Thoroughly evaluates all documentation received from Operations personnel (example PCRs, PCSs), Dispatch personnel (example: CAD records, call types, priorities), and external customers (example: insurance and demographic information) and ensure any shortcomings or discrepancies are addressed prior to submitting documentation and information to the billing office. 
  • Should ensure that all items listed on the DQA Key Data Point Review Sheet are reviewed, present and accurate prior to submission.
  • Audits PCR’s to ensure compliance with local medical protocol and works in coordination with Operations Manager and Medical Director to provide educational feedback to field staff.
  • Cross references all PCR’s with CAD data to ensure that all ambulance runs have appropriate documentation completed and submitted.
  • Generates reports as required to assist management team in ensuring quality of field documentation.
  • Contacts healthcare facilities, public safety agencies and insurance companies to obtain additional information for completion of documentation for ambulance runs.
  • Coordinates documentation and evaluation of repetitive patients in accordance with the company “Repetitive Patient Ambulance Transport Policy”.
  • At the direction of DQA Supervisor follows up on any records held in Hold Que’s to address any shortcomings or discrepancies.
  • Ensures the security of all company computer systems by adhering to security procedures and utilizing appropriate passwords policies.
  • Maintains security and privacy of all confidential and proprietary company information at all times in accordance with company policy.
  • Maintains security and privacy of all company and patient information at all times in accordance HIPPA and all other local, state and federal regulations.
  • Notifies DQA supervisor or any lapses in documentation resulting in less than full compliance with company and Hippa standards
  • Reports to assigned shifts properly groomed and according to the company dress code.  
  • Ensures that work area is ready for use at the beginning of each shift and after shift. This includes making sure that work area is clean and organized and that all company documents are appropriately    filed and secured according to local, state and federal law, company policy and HIPPA regulations.
  • Completes all duties in accordance with local, state and federal law, EMS regulations and company policy.
  • Demonstrates complete knowledge, understanding and compliance of company policies and procedures.
  • At all times sets an example of professionalism and places customer service, compliance and safety above all else.
  • Performs other duties as directed by management.

Definition:
  • Provides scheduled and unscheduled medical transportation services and delivers the passenger to the appropriate location.
  • Responds to hospitals, nursing homes and other locations to provide medical transportation services.
  • Provides safe medical team and/or passenger movement from/to wheelchair/stretcher at home, hospitals, nursing      homes and other facilities.
  • Provides passenger safety monitoring , enroute to destination and during transportation to, from and/or between facilities.

Minimum Requirements:
